What We're Doing to Prep for Back to School

Two weeks and counting until back to school.

We all wish summer could last forever, but my inbox is filling up with emails from my school ALREADY!

What that means for me is it’s at least time to be thinking (just a little) about the back to school whirlwind. So, here’s what we’re doing to get prepped:

1. RESTING: yes. It’s priority number one. I happen to be pregnant in my second trimester this summer which makes me pretty tired! In these weeks, I’m storing up energy so I can be the best version of myself this school year.

2. BUYING TAPE: for real. I always run out of the good tape when I’m getting my classroom ready, so I’m making sure I have a good stock of it before I go into my classroom. (This pregnant lady is having to MOVE classrooms . . . Upstairs!! Prayers appreciated, friends, lol.) If you need tape, too, you can use our Amazon link! blue tape, Alien Tape, Command strips

3. COMING UP WITH OUR FOUR PILLARS: Each year, I come up with the four pillars that I want my classroom to be built on. This year, I have three of them in mind: Connection, Consistency, Creativity, and – still working on the fourth one. I love thinking through this and making sure what I do aligns with my values for that year.

4. WHAT TO KEEP/WHAT TO TRASH: This is literal and figurative. I’m slowly becoming a minimalist, and that bleeds into my classroom, too. I don’t need all of the things cluttering up my space. With the classroom move, it’s time to inventory what I use and don’t.

This is also a great plan for your curriculum and your routines. What worked and what didn’t. I’m not wasting any more time on the things that didn’t serve me or my students. Life’s too short for mediocre junk.

5. ADDING TO MY WISH LIST: I’m not quite ready to make any resource purchases for school, but I’m adding to my TPT wish list. We’ve got a TON of back to school resources and yearlong products that might help you in your classroom. Check them out, and add them to your list! The back to school sale is coming soon, so that would be the perfect time to purchase & save big time!!
